This article introduces a new retarded system for geothermal applications, which is based upon an environmentally friendly, biodegradable acid. Resulting from a close cooperation between the companies GEO-energie Bayern and Fangmann Energy Services, a new acid system was developed, successfully lab-tested and is now awaiting field-testing in a carbonate formation.
