On 6 May first oil came from the Chevron-operated Tahiti field in the US Gulf of Mexico. Tahiti is expected to produce 125,000 b of oil and 2 million m3 of natural gas a day, reaching plateau production later this year. The field is estimated to contain between 400 and 500 million boe. It is developed with a floating spar platform producing from six subsea wells.
