UCD, University of Tokyo Explore Algal Biofuels

A new joint project between the University of California, Davis (UCD) and the University of Tokyo in Japan is aim- ing to provide a better understanding of how algae can be used to produce biofuels. It has received one of four new grants, jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foun- dation and the Japan Science and Technology Agency, to develop environment-friendly fuels and reduce pesticide use, UCD reported January 13.
