Many people ask how they can gain a better "eye" for conformation. As always, I recommend the use of "palpation points"—prominences that can be felt upon the surface of a horse's body which mark the position of knobs, crests and joints of the skeleton within. They reveal the proportions of a given horse's skeleton to a reasonable degree of accuracy without the use of x-rays.
