NHTSA Proposes New Alternative Fuel Rules

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced February 19 a notice of proposed rulemaking that aims to require vehicle manufacturers to indicate which vehicles would be able to operate on certain alternative fuels and explain which alternative fuels they can use, such as ethanol, biodiesel, hydrogen or electric batteries. The NHTSA’s proposed rule, which comes from the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA), aims to achieve U.S. energy independence.
