Notes on the genus Neochauliodes Weele (Megaloptera: Corydalidae) from Henan, China

The species of the genus Neochauliodes from Henan are reviewed. Three species are described as new to science: Neochauliodes digitiformis sp. nov., Neochauliodes parasparsus sp. nov. and Neochauliodes sparsus sp. nov. A key to the species from Henan is presented. The megalopteran genus Neochauliodes Weele, 1909 is the largest genus of the corydalid subfamily Chauliodinae, with more than 30 described species. It is widely distributed from far eastern to south-eastern Asia. The adult is usually of medium size, with a yellowish to brownish body and diverse dark marks on its wings. The antenna is pectinate in the male but subserrate in the female, showing distinct sexual dimorphism. The male genitalia are characterized by the following features: ninth sternum with membranous apical process; tenth tergum simple, short and thickened; aedeagus with length equal to ninth and tenth terga, and without basal fork. The female genitalia also show some stable interspecific differences among most species except for some species belonging to the Neochauliodes sinensis complex.
