A Contribution to the Biology of Flower Flies of the Genus Temnostoma (Diptera, Syrphidae) with Description of Larvae of Four Species

Larvae and pupae of three species of the genus Temnostoma, belonging to the T. bombylans species-group (T. angustistriatum Krivosheina, T. nitobei Matsumura, and Temnostoma sp.), have been described for the first time. Larvae differ from each other and from larvae of T. bombylans (Fabricius), described earlier, in the structure of the posterior respiration tube and puparial spiracles. The larvae mainly develop in wood of deciduous trees. Keys to larvae and pupae of these species are given.
