On Causes of Recapitulation

Based on the analysis of ontogeny of the hyobranchial skeleton and cranial bone anlagen in the Urodela and Anura, the conclusion is drawn that the recapitulation of morphological structures is based on mor-phogenetic correlations (i.e., interaction, interdependence, and interference of morphological processes) providing for their formation and, therefore, these correlations recapitulate as do the morphological structures proper.
