Parasitoids (Hymenoptera, Eulophidae) of Sawflies of the Genera Fenusa, Pontania, and Arge (Hymenoptera, Symphyta) from the Middle Volga Area

In the middle Volga area, four sawfly species (Fenusa ulmi, F. pusilla, Pontania proxima, and Arge ochropus) are attacked by 10 parasitoid species of the family Eulophidae. Of these eulophid species, seven are recorded as sawfly parasitoids for the first time. Arge ochropus is for the first time recorded as a host of Elahertus gallicus. Eulophidae (Hymenoptera) are endo- and ectoparasites of immature stages of various insects: lepidopter-ans, dipterans, coleopterans; they are also parasites and hyperparasites of hymenopterans. Data on the species assemblage of eulophids reared from sawflies represent important and reliable information on the host-parasite associations among Hymenoptera. A total of 195 sawfly species from 79 genera were recorded fromthe middle Volga area (Lengesova and Yefremova, 2003; Lengesova, 2004); 115 species of eulophids were recorded from Ulyanovsk Province (Yefremova et al., 1995, 2000). Parasites of mining sawflies have been subject of investigation for many well-known researchers (Eichhon and Pschorn-Walcher, 1973; Askew and Shaw, 1974; Pschorn-Walcher and Altenhofer, 1989).
