Electricity can cause fatal accidents and can even kill people. It can also destroy homes by causing fires and explosions. Statistics have shown that electricity causes more than 20,000 fires a year (almost half of the fires a year in the UK). Every year, more than 70 people are killed and more than 350,000 people are injured due to electricity. Most electrical accidents are caused by people who work with, or near electrical equipment that is thought to be dead when the wire is live or the wire is known as live but the people/person involved do not have the adequate training or equipment to prevent injury.
