Use of New Characters of the Structure of the Genitalia in Identification of Species of the Genus Carpocoris Kol. (Heteroptera, Pentatomidae)

Characters of the structure of the parameres and vesica have been traditionally used in identification of species of the genus Carpocoris. The structure of the conjunctive appendages is added to these characters. The structure of the spermatheca widely varies within some species.The genus Carpocoris Kol. comprises 9 species and is subdivided into two subgenera: Carpocoris s. str. and Manciurocoris (Tamanini, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962; Puchkov 1965). Identification of species of the genus is rather difficult because of their wide variability in habitus. Not all of the species can be reliably identified even on the basis of usually reliable characters of the structure of the male genitalia, e.g., shape of the parameres and length of the vesica (Tamanini, 1959).
