Fleas (Siphonaptera) of the Mt. Elbrus area

Fifty species of fleas have been found on mammals and birds and in their nests in the Mt. Elbrus area; three more species have been recorded from this area according to published data. Most species are widely distributed in the Elbrus area and are associated each with a group of hosts that are closely related or have similar bionomics. Restricted distribution is typical of species that parasitize stenotopic hosts or are very sensitive to temperature and humidity.
