摘要

A color matching method for determination of oxidizable organic carbon in soils was developed with 266 numbers of soil samples. This method is simple, rapid and reliable that can be used in areas where soil testing service is not available. Organic matter in soils is considered as an index of soil fertility. Hence, in soil testing program soil organic matter content is determined. Among the various methods, Walkley and Black method is used in soil testing laboratories in India. It is an approximatemethod. Yet, it has been selected as it is not Laborious and not time consuming as the other methods are. In India, the soil testing service is so meager that most of the farmers can not take the advantage of it. Hence, an attempt was made to develop a simple and rapid method that can be used in areas where soil testing service is not available.
