Alliance promotes synthetic fuels

An alliance of automotive companies and energy groups used a briefing at the Paris motor show to outline their vision for a cleaner future for road transport. The Alliance for Synthetic Fuels in Europe (ASFE) was launched in March this year by DaimlerChrysler, Renault, Volkswagen, Royal Dutch Shell and Sasol Chevron. It is an initiative to reduce environmental impact through a new generation of engines, improved efficiency and cleaner fuels. It also looks to address concerns on security and diversity of supply.
