A field trial was conducted for four years for seed production of shaftal with different dates of sowing, cutting management (no cut, one cut and two cuts) and different rate of phosphate fertilization. The data reveals that early sowing in October gave higher seed yield (2.21q/hectare) in shaftal than the late sowing in November (1.69q/hectare) and December (1.56q/hectare). Growing the crop without taking any intermediate cutting gave highest seed yield (2.97q/hectare) followed by one cutting (1.75q/hectare) and two cuttings (0.74q/hectare) management. The highest mean seed yield (2.31q/hectare) was also observed by the application of 90 kg P_2O_5 per hectare followed by 60 kg (2.05kg/hectare) and 120 kg P_2O_5 per hectare (1.83q/hectare).
