Performance of rapeseed-mustard varieties grown on rainfed rice fallow in lateritic belt of West Bengal

In a field experiment during the rabi seasons of 1996/97 and 1997/98 at Visva-Bharati, West Bengal, India, 3 rape and 6 mustard [Brassica juncea] cultivars were compared. In general, the mustard cultivars had greater growth and yield component values than the rape cultivars. Mustard cv. RW-351 produced the highest seed yield, followed by rape cv. B-9.
