Effect of planting techniques on microclimate, lodging, growth and yield of wheat--a review

摘要

Bidirection sowing of wheat showed merits over normal unidirection sowing, skip planting and bed planting throush an efficient use of resources like soil and aerial environment and better weed control. Systematic canopies and bed planting were foundto be superior over the uneven, unidirection and flat canopies in lodging resistance. All the yield contributing characters and hence grain yield was higher in Indirection as compared to unidirection sowing, local methods (broadcast, round about), stripor skip planting, bed planting and uneven stands. The strip/skip planting resulted in economy in seed and fertilizer up to 25 percent. Response of wheat to bed planting system is highly variable and site specific. Lower incidence of powdery mildew and brown rust and reduced weed dry weight and weed population was observed in bidirection sowing. Further bidirection sowing has been cost effective and high yielder in quality and quantity in all situations besides an efficient user of resources helping maintenance of ecosystem.
