Effect of cultivar, rooting media and position of nodal cut on success of air-layering in pomegranate

The cultivars like Bassein Seedless, Jalore Seedless, Jyoti, Ganesh and Mridula gave good success in air-layering in respect of percentage of rooting end field establishment of layers when the operation was made during June. Among the rooting media,saw dust was found to be the best as it helped to take minimum time for rooting and resulted better root formation as compared to other rooting media. To remove bark for air-layering, the first cut (from the tip of shoot) at 2 cm below a node showed bestresult in respect of rooting success, better root production and minimum time for rooting.
