Ichthyofaunal diversity in the wetlands (beels) of Charaideo subdivision, Sivasagar district, Assam and their health and management.

A total 5 numbers of wetlands (beels) have been studied in the Charaideo subdivision of Sivasagar district on the basis on the Towkak river catchment along with Abhoipur Reserve Forest. A total of 42 fish species under 6 orders were collected and observed from the all beels. Assemblage attributes (species richness, species evenness and diversity) varied significantly between these beels. Dominating order Cypriniformes had the greatest effect on the observed pattern of fish assemblages. The other hydrobiological factors also have great influence in the productivity of the fishes.
