Effect of sowing dates on yield attributes and yield of different new wheat ( Triticum dicoccum) genotypes under Peninsular India.

A field experiment was initiated to study the performance of four wheat genotypes at different dates of sowing under irrigated condition was carried out in rabi season of 2011.-12. The treatments consisted of two sowing dates (45th MW and 48th MW) and four wheat genotypes (HW1098, DDK1009, MACS 2971, MACS 2496). The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The experimental findings revealed that the sowing on 45th MW significantly influenced most yield attribute and significantly superior to sowing on 48th MW. The highest grain yield was obtained with sowing on 45th MW (30.74 q ha -1). Sowing in 45th MW gave 23.61% more grain yield over sowing on 48th MW. Amongst cultivars, MACS 2971 was found to be best and gave statistically more grain and straw yield (31.2 q ha -1 and 80.75 q ha -1), which was on par with check cultivar MACS 2496 (30.03 q ha -1 and 73.97 q ha -1) and significantly superior to remaining two genotypes HW 1098 and DDK 1009. The interaction between various genotypes and time of sowing for grain yield per hectare was significant. Maximum grain yield (36.78 q ha -1) was observed with genotype MACS 2496, when sown on 45th MW and significantly superior to rest of treatments. More uptake of NPK was with sowing on 45th MW, amongst cultivars more N and K uptake by genotype MACS 2971 and phosphorus uptake by genotype MACS 2496. Maximum net return (Rs. 18163 ha -1) recorded with sowing on 45th MW. This treatment also recorded higher B:C ratio (1.55). Amongst cultivars, maximum net return (Rs 19188 ha -1) and B:C ratio (1.60) was recorded with cultivar MACS 2971 followed by MACS 2496 and HW 1098; Genotype DDK 1009 recorded lowest net returns (Rs 4,446 ha -1) and B:C ratio (1.16).
