Effect of Government Incentives, Subsidies and Concessions on the Socio-Economic Status of Coastal Fisherfolk in Karnataka

Socio-economic profile has been evolved to understand the basic amenities such as demographic, educational, housing, health, assets, income and consumption pattern of coastal fishermen of Karnataka. This study would focus on lifestyle, standard of living of the different categories across three coastal districts of Karnataka. This will reveal the extent of socio-economic impact of all the schemes both by central and state governments implemented to promote the welfare of the fishermen and also help the policy makers to formulate future policies taking the stock socio-economic profile of the coastal fishermen. There was not much difference in the family size of respondents of the beneficiary and non-beneficiary of the fishermen as the average size of the family remained same m bom the categories of households. The average consumption level of the two groups varied considerably high among beneficiaries than non-beneficiaries.
