摘要

Sheath rot (Sarocladium oryzae) causes losses ranging from 0.50 to 65.0% in grain yield. Hence the present investigation was taken up with a view to identity the effect of sheath rot on seed germination, shoot length, root length and vigor index of paddy seed. The treatments used were earbendaziun, chlorothanil, copper oxychloride, difolatan, mancozeb, tricyclozole, tridemorph and untreated check. Two sprays were taken at 10 days interval of the first spraying. The results revealed that the seed germination was highest and significantly superior from the rest of the crops sprayed with carbendazium. Similarly the vigor index was also highest in this treatment The sheath rot also had significant effect on number of panicle per hill and the length of the panicle. Thus carbendazium is not only effective in controlling the disease but also improves germination and vigor index.
