Evaluation of insecticides against termite by broadcasting treated soils in irrigated wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).

Field experiments were conducted in Gujarat, India, during the 2000-01 and 2002-03 cropping seasons, to evaluate different insecticides against termites by broadcasting the treated soils in standing wheat crop. Endosulfan at 0.80 kg a.i./ha was the most effective insecticide for the control of termites in standing crop of wheat and also recorded the highest yield and net profit. Since, aldrin and heptachlor have been banned, endosulfan was found to be an alternative to aldrin and heptachlor that can be used by the farmers to control termites in standing wheat crop.
