Effect of Different Sowing Dates on Germination, Growth and Yield of Different Germplasms of Broad Bean (Vidafaba L.)

Field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2004-2005 to find out the effect of different sowing dates on germination, growth and yield of different germplasm of broad bean. Sowing of four different genotypes were done on three different dates at an interval of seven days i.e. 30 September, 7 October and 14 October. Observations were recorded on various growth and yield characters. Among the three sowing dates, 14 October was found to be the best for vegetative growth and economic yield of broad bean, and among the four genotypes G, with 13.74 t/ha yield recorded maximum yield which confirms its adaptability to this agro-climatic region with maximum vegetative and exclusive performance.
