The resistance of 80 recombinant inbred lines from the cross tomato x Lycopersicon hirsutum cv. LA 1777 to whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) was evaluated in a laboratory and field experiments conducted in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Nine recombinant inbred lines viz., LA 3913, LA 3914, LA 3916, LA 3921, LA 3942, LA 3946, LA 3948 LA 3968 and LA3978 were resistant to whitefly, whereas the rest of the lines were susceptible to the pest..
