Effect of Chemical Floral Preservatives on Vase Life of Cut Flowers of Gerbera cv Winter Queen

Gerbera cv Winter Queen was subjected to twelve different treatment combinations against control. Treatment with 200 ppm aluminum sulfate + 4% sucrose + 200 ppm 8-HQS + 100 ppm silver thiosulphate showed significant beneficial effect in extending thevase life of the cultivar to 10 days, as against 7.03 days of vase life in control. The findings provide an alternative for extending the vase life of cut gerbera flowers.
