Among twenty four varieties of eggplant the in vitro screening for the fruit rot reaction due to phomopsis blight pathogen, after 20 days of inoculation by P. Vexans, eggplant varieties/lines highly resistant reaction was found in RHRB-8, CHBR-1 and D-2-8-6. Eggplant cultivator KS-224 was the only one which exhibited resistant reaction as evident by minimum lesion area (5.6 sq cm) on fruit and fruit rot percentage (8.2%). Among the highly susceptible were ABL-1, JB-15, PPL, KS-331, ABR-1, DBL-8, BB-46, JB-64, PB-33, KS-352, Pb-sadabahar, NDB-28-2, KS-227 and CHBR-2. Four varieties/lines were moderately resistance viz. BB-40, BAC-71-19, DBL-11 and CHBR-3.
