Embryos of zebrafish, Brachydanio rerio were treated with sodium tripolyphosphate. Treatment of the embryos with chorion was carried out from just after fertilization to 96 hours with concentrtations ranging from 5--40 mg/liter of STPP. Concentrations of 20 and 40 mg/liter of STPP showed some embryos with abnormal body structures. These abnorma. Ily structured embryos were found more in 20 and 40 mg/liter of STPP. Treated embryos showed early hatching (54--60 hours), late pigmentation, large yolk,curvature in the body axis and reduced activity. Disturbances in cleavage patterns were observed initial stages.
