Neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss.) - Panacea for All Maladies

Neem is a versatile tree of the tropics and has the potential to contribute significantly to local health care and bio-enterprise development in India. In recent years scientists and researchers have been descending on the tropical rain forests to learn the secrets of natives while searching for plant based cures for diseases and other uses. The non-wood products of neem have multipurpose use in medicines, pesticides, cosmetics, restoring soil productivity and even contraceptives. The present paper highlights the uses of non-wood products of neem and also outlines the future research needs and priorities to improve the productivity of neem.
