摘要

Opencast mining results in the formation of large overburden dumps and voids at mining sites. Reclamation of these large dumps is an integral part of environmental management in any mining project. The OB dumps are sometimes acidic due to geochemistryof rocks. Bioavailable Mn, Fe, Zn and Cu are found both in acidic and neutral pH. Low pH of 3.4 to 4, bioavailability of Zn is found 10 to 30 times more than natural soils Correlation between bioavailafale Zn and Mn has been found highest. Higher bioavailability of metals is due to lack of organic matter in dump surface which immobilize the metals Dalbergia sissoo growing well in these acidic dumps and improve dump conditions.
