The field experiment was conducted during 2002-03 to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on the productivity and quality improvement of crops in rice-onion cropping system on sandy clay loam soil of Gangetic plains. Results revealed that significantly highest grain yield of rice (4.47 t ha~(-1)) was obtained from the treatment receiving pelleted form of organic manure (through Biomax) along with 75% of NPK through inorganic sources (F). Yields obtained (4.35 t ha~(-1) and 4.32 t ha~(-1) respectively) from the treatment receiving neem seed powder and FYM along with inorganic fertilizer also as good as the treatment producing highest yield. In onion, application of neem seed powder along with 75% of NPK through inorganic fertilizer (F_5) gave significantly highest number of leaves per plant (13.58), bulb yield (15.25 t ha~(-1)); bulb diameter and vitamin-C content (8.1 mg/100 g). Significantly higher response also found in the treatment receiving FYM (F_5) and pelleted form of organicmatter along with 75% of NPK through inorganic fertilizers (F_2). The qualitative characters of rice (hulling, milling and head rice recovery percentage) and onion (bulb diameter and vitamin-C content) improved with addition of different organic matter (biomax, neem seed powder, FYM, karanj cake) along with 75% of the recommended dose of fertilizer through inorganic sources than the treatment receiving inorganic fertilizer only.
