Growth performance of muzaffarnagri and muzaffarnagri xsahabadi cross-bred sheep under deep litter system of management

growth performance of Muzaffarnagri (M) and Muzaffarnagri x Sahabadi (MS) crossbred sheep under deep litter system of management was carried. Outof each 12 sheep, 10 are female and 2 are male. The growth performance of two breeds was observed at every fortnight intervals. In each breed, the animals were classified into four age groups, namely, group 1(9-15 months of age), group II (16-26 months of age),group 111(27-33 months of age), group IV (34 months and above). The overall mean body weight (BW)of M and MS sheep was 32,923+-0.462 kg and 29.165+-0.412 kg respectively. The overall mean body leogth(BL), height at wither (HW), heart girth (HO) and punch girth (PG) of M and MS sheep were 72.051+-1.012 cm and 62.694+-0.883 cm; 73.694+-1.035 cm and 64.179+-0.900 cm; 82.261+-l.l55 cm and 70.015+-0.980 cm and 87.367+-1.165 cm and 74.331+-1.051 cm respectively. It was found that the growth performance of Muzaffarnagri breed was superior to their half-bred progeny born out of Sahabadi.
