摘要

The effect of different pre-treatments on xanthophyll yield in nine different African marigold genotypes was carried out. Three different pre-treatments viz., cellulase, pectinase and potassium meta bisulfate at two different concentrations was experimented. The maximum xanthophyll yield per kilogram of petal meal was recorded in the flowers pre-treated with 0.1 % Potassiun meta bisulfate (21.07 g/kg). while minimum was recorded in the flowers pre-treated with distilled water (18.01 g/kg). In the interaction effect, maximum xanthophyll yield per kilogram of petal meal was recorded in the genotype Local African Tall, pre-treated with 0.1 % Potassium meta bisulfate (28.38 g/ kg), whereas, minimum was recorded in the genotype Indam Yellow, pre-treatedwith distilled water (2.68 g/ kg).
