The effects of press mud and rice husk at 5 or 10 g/kg, and molasses at 5 or 10 ml/kg on the performance of aubergine (cv. BR-112) and on the incidence of M. incognita were studied under greenhouse conditions. Seeds were sown immediately after the incorporation of the soil amendments. Fifteen-day-old plants were inoculated with 0, 1, 2 or 5 second-stage juveniles of M. incognita/g of soil. Seed germination was not significantly affected by the soil amendments or inoculum level. The soil amendments significantly increased fresh shoot and root weights, and reduced the root-knot index. Among the inoculum levels, one larva/g of soil resulted in the highest fresh shoot weight (5.14 g). The increase in the inoculum level increased the root-knot index. M. incognita juveniles were not found in soil treated with press mud at 10 g/kg of soil..
