Hematological parameters of yak (Poephagus grunniens L) while carrying load on bumpy motorable road in mountainous terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.

摘要

In this study, yaks were subjected to loads of 15% of their body weight and allowed to walk in kachha motor roads in the ups and downs of the hilly terrain almost at around 2591 m altitude. Haemograms with respect to total erythrocyte count (RBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV) and total leukocyte count (WBC) of ten adult male yaks were studied. It was shown that RBC and WBC increased and Hb and PCV decreased but differences were not significant. No significant changes in ESR were observed..
