Multivariate analysis to architecture model plant type for saline soil in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em Thell.).

Forty four wheat varieties were appraised on eleven quantitative traits to study genetic divergence by non-hierarchical Euclidean cluster analysis. Genotypes were grouped into eight non-overlapping clusters which showed no definite relationship between genetic divergence and geographical distribution of genotypes. The highest genetic divergence was observed between cluster III and VII, followed by IV and VII, VI and VII, I and VII, V and VII and II and VII whereas minimum in I and II. Considering genetic divergence and mean performance, six diverse and superior genotypes viz., VW-532, HP-1731, RAJ-4128, JO-432, RS-945 and VW-565 were expressed suitability for generating reasonable variability for maximum traits. These genotypes could be utilize for enhancing the yield potential through various mating system to find out transgressive segregants and developing desirable model planttype.
