Impact of climate change on Indian agriculture: adaptation and mitigation strategies.

Although studies on impact of climate change on agriculture in India are limited, the few studies conduced highlight the adverse impact of climate change in terms of decreasing production, increased incidence of pests and diseases, increased frequency of natural disasters and overall impact on Indian economy. In this background, it is imperative to study the effects of climate change at national level with network and collaboration of various organizations. The impact would vary according to different regions. Therefore it is need of the hour to identify and develop various adaptation and mitigation strategies to combat climate change and its effect on Indian economy in general and Indian agriculture in particular.
