Seven popular mulberry varieties viz., VI, S36, S34, S30, SI3, MR2 and RFS175 grown under UAS Seri Suvarna Technology with protective irrigation were evaluated for better performance through silworm bio-assay studies. Significantly higher third, fourth and fifth instar larval weight (0.118g, 0.62g and 3.89g), effective rate of rearing (98.30 %), cocoon weight (1.897g), pupal weight (1.559g), shell weight (0.337g), shell ratio (17.75%), silk productivity (4.67cg/ day) and cocoon filament length (875.92m) with significantly minimum fourth and fifth instar larval durations (4.12 and 7.21days), filament denier (2.01) and larval mortality (0.17%) were observed when PMxCSR2) larvae were fed on VI mulberry leaves.
