摘要

The experimental material consisting of 12 parents and their 27 crosses were evaluated to study the genetic variability, heritability in broad sense and genetic advance as per cent of mean for eleven characters. The maximum range was observed for characters viz., number of pods per plant (84.28-224.5). The highest magnitude of PCV and GC V were recorded by number of pods per plant followed by number of clusters per plant and seed yield per plant. The pheno-typic coefficients of variation were higherthan the genotypic coefficients of variation for all the characters under study. The heritability was highest for number of pods per plant (97.7) followed by number of clusters per plant, primary branches and 100 seed weight. This suggests the predominance of additive gene action for the control of these characters. High values of heritability combined with high value of genetic advance as per cent of mean for plant height, number of primary branches, number of clusters perplant, number of pods per cluster, number of pods per plant, 100 seed weight and seed yield per plant.
