Direct and reciprocal intra-racial crosses of Pure Mysore Bombyx mori L. performance for few grainage traits.

The Pure Mysore inbred lines used in this study were collected from Bangalore (B), Bilidevalaya (BD), Magadi (M) and Mysore (My), India. The intra-racial crosses were made among the pure breeds and reared at Department of Sericulture, University ofAgricultural Sciences, Bangalore. The lowest male moth emergence (79.45%) was recorded by B x M cross and highest (91.48%) was with BD x M cross. The direct cross B x My recorded maximum female moth emergence (93.33%) and lowest (86.66%) with M x B. Least male to female ratio (0.64) was recorded with My x BD whereas, M x B recorded maximum (1.13). Maximum number of eggs (422.27) was laid by female of B x BD cross and less number of (355.21) B x M. The reciprocal cross My x B recorded maximum egg diameter (0.56 mm) and same was least (0.35 mm) for M x My cross. The direct and reciprocal crosses of Magadi and Bangalore inbreds showed shorter pupal duration. Mysore and Bilidevalaya cross showed maximum pupal weight (0.9843 g). Magadi and Bangalore cross was found to be superior for all most all grainage traits.
