Generation Performance of Microplant Based Seed Potato Production in Gwalior Region

An experiment was conducted during 2010-11 under aphid proof net house conditions (Gen-eration-0) and 2011-12 (Generation-1) and 2012-13 (Generation-2) under field conditions to evaluate the growth and yield performance in four popular varieties viz.Kufri Bahar, Kufri Sindhuri, Kufri Lauvkarand Kufri Surya. Under G-0, highest establishment was recorded in Kufri Surya (74.38%) over all other 3 varieties. Significantly higher germination, number of stem and plant height were recorded in Kufri Bahar and Kufri Surya over other two varieties in G-1. Non-sig-nificant but higher growth parameters were recorded in Kufri Bahar and Kufri Surya over Kufri Lauvkar and Kufri Sindhuri in G-2. In G-0 and G-1. all other three varieties recorded significantly higher minituber yield over Kufri Lauvkar. In G-2, Kufri Bahar, Kufri Sindhuri and Kufri Surya recorded significantly higher tuber number in all the grades and total tuber over Kufri Lauvkar. In G-1 significantly higher disease incidence in ELISA test was recorded in Kufri Sindhuri over other three varieties. In G-2 non-significant buthigher incidence of disease was recorded in Kufri Lauvkar (1.00%) and K. Surya (1.33%) in ELISA test over Kufri Sindhuri and Kufri Bahar.Performance of cultivars like Kufri Bahar, Kufri Sindhuri and Kufri Surya was better than Kufri Lauvkar during hi-tech seed production in potato.
