Helcystogramma triannulella (Herrich-SchafFer, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) new to the British Isles

Helcystogramma triannulella (Herrich-Schaffer, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is reported as new to the British Isles following its discovery on the Isles of Scilly in 2013.During a visit to the Isles of Scilly in early October 2013, one of the authors (CPML) encountered a distinctive but unfamiliar Gelechiid moth in his light trap w^hich, following further investigation, proved to be a species new to the British Isles. Details of its initial discovery, identification and life history (elsewhere inEurope) are documented below. A second specimen was located in the same geographical area a few nights later by Mr David Grundy (DG) and details of this find are included. The genus Helcystogramma contains six species in Europe and H. triannulella represents the third member of this genus found in the British Isles, the other two being long-term residents.
