Two solitary bee species new to Sweden from the coast of South East Scania (Hymenoptera: Apoidea)

The discovery of the mining bee Andrena gravida Imhoff and a population of the small black cuckoo bee Sphecodes niger von Hagens in southernmost Sweden is reported. In Loderup Strandbad, on the southeastern tip of Scania, a single female of the former species was found in June 2001 on the sea beach, in flowers of Cakile maritima. In August 2003 on the same locality males of S. niger were found in flowers of Achillaea millefolium and Pimpinella saxifraga. From Sweden 14 Sphecodes-species and 60 Andrena-species are known. Diagnostic species characters are briefly described and illustrated. The sudden occurrence in southernmost Sweden is probably the result of recent immigration from the south..
