摘要

J.W.Birkett,J.N.Lester,and others review emerging issues associated with the presence of endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs)in wastewater and sludge treatment by providing up-to-date knowledge on the identity, sources, fate, and distribution of EDCs in the aquatic environment. The book,in its closing, proposes a management framework that relies on an economic feedback mechanism, where externalized costs due to degradation of environmental resources are shifted back to the originator and where policy choices to improve water quality take into consideration the impact to the environment of any remediation.
