摘要

The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-17) to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 24 September to 4 October 2016. CITES1 was signed in1973 and entered into force in 1975, as a response to over-exploitation of wildlife through international trade, which threatened the survival of many species of plants and animals around the world. CITES operational bodies include the Standing Committee (SC) and two scientific committees: the Plants Committee (PC) and the Animals Committee (AC). There are currently 183 Parties to the Convention.
