The United Nations Environment Assembly Hits its Stride

The Second Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-2)1 met from 23 to 28 May 2016 at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The session was preceded by the Science and Policy Forum, 19-20 May,2followed by the 16th Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF), 21-22 May. Topics discussed in the GMGSF included multi-stakeholder interaction on main UNEA themes; the role of major groups and stakeholders in multi-stakeholder partnerships; and policy making and the application of the rule of law in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
