Internet resources for identifying geographical coordinates: a brief overview of some of the available websites

Various internet websites are accessible to provide data on geographical coordinates. The most refined allow reliable coordinates to be extracted based on user input of Ordnance Survey Grid References, postcodes or named villages, towns or cities. Obtaining such information on uninhabited islands can be much more challenging. This paper provides guidance for the recovery of such data, with brief comments on some of the more reliable websites.
