Introductory remarks by the opponents-The SSHAC methodology represents the state of the art of PSHA methodology and has been accepted by the US NRC for regulatory use. The Klugel paper misunderstands and misrepresents the SSHAC methodology. These statements express the personal opinion of my renowned and honourable opponents. Like any subjective assessment it is conditioned by their personal (and certainly rich) experience of the application of PSHA methodology, with its main background related to the USA. In other countries different methodologies of seismic hazard analysis-both probabilistic and deterministic-have been in use for a long time. These methods have been implemented successfully in the corresponding national regulations and have been used in the development and use of nuclear technology in these countries. There has never been any serious damage reported for any Nuclear Power Plant in the world resulting from earthquake.
