Plant Manager of the Year John Mang Recognized for Successful Restart of Former LTV Steel Facility

John C. Mang III has a long history with the steel industry. His father worked at the former LTV East Chicago, Ind., plant for 44 years, and Mang himself began working in that same mill to help pay for his college education. Thirty-three years later, Mang is an integral part of the industry after helping successfully restart the ISG Cleveland facility and restore it to a profitable position in the industry. Because of this leadership, he was presented with the Iron & Steel Society's Plant Manager of the Year award on April 29 at the ISSTech 2003 conference in Indianapolis, Inc. Receiving the award was a complete and pleasant surprise for Mang. "What made me feel good was looking at the list of previous winners, which included Rodney Mott and Dan DiMicco. I consider it a real honor to be in that league."
