China's steel output, iron ore imports hit record levels

China's crude steel output reached its highest monthly level this year in July of 50.68m tonnes, up 12.6 percent year-on-year, while iron ore imports that month also hit a record 58.1m t. Year-to-July crude steel output was 317.31m t, up 2.9 percent y-o-y. Although the daily crude steel production rate of 1.63m t was slightly less than the 1.65m t recorded in June, the data points to China being on track to produce at least 530m t of steel this year.
